Fit To Promise

We stayed in this hotel for nearly a month. It was a home away from home. Main reason we chose it – it is a Starwood property and being Platinum members we normally get treated very well. We also managed to book at a great rate compared to some of the other 5* hotels around.

Hotel’s Location is excellent! Sheraton Park Tower is in Knightsbridge, right next to Harvey Nicks (next door), 2 min walk to Hyde Park or 5 min walk to Harrods – you can’t go wrong!

Service – Quite good. A bottle of wine was sent to the room on a regular basis and we got invited for drinks and canapés with the GM, a nice touch.

No upgrade to a suite was offered for our stay or even a part of it as apparently they have only a few suites and all of them were fully booked by guests like ourselves who stayed there for a long time.

Breakfast – Try to book a room rate that includes breakfast as otherwise it is very expensive. But very nice! European buffet with middle eastern specialties – a lot of healthy choices along with traditional English breakfast. Fresh fruit, middle eastern delicacies, Italian meats – all were lovely. Service at breakfast was very good too.

Now, not so good points – Rooms and Atmosphere.

Rooms are VERY small. Probably the smallest rooms I have ever stayed in. With tiny one person bathrooms. Some parts of the rooms were renovated, but bathrooms appear really old. And also, the rooms have absolutely no room to store the luggage. i know space is at a premium in London but this was a little too tiny.

Atmosphere  – During our visit most of the clients in the hotel were from the Middle East. It felt a little unusual, like staying in an Arabic hotel.

The lobby itself is very hectic and the decor is dated.

Lobby bar is not particularly inviting either.

So the best way to summarise the atmosphere in the hotel would be to say that there isn’t any.

So what is the verdict – are we coming back? Preferably not. If budget allows, I would choose a hotel with bigger rooms and a more upscale atmosphere. However if budget is a concern I would consider staying here again.
